Day 2

We understand some of you may need a sleep in but there's still so much to explore! While we are here to offer a bunch of suggested activities, you are free to explore.  Just make sure to check out before 12 and that you're back in time for lunch!

We will be meeting at Felons at 12pm.

For the keen beans Nathan will be leading a walking tour from Eagle St to West Village. Soak up knowledge from a local as he shares his insights into the Urban Design and landscape elements of these sites. Meet in the hotel lobby at 9:30am.

01

Go and explore the riverside precinct that has recently been announced as Dexus' $2billion dollar redevelopment project. The Waterfront development is said to include an upgraded Riverwalk, public plaza, office buildings and revitalised retail /dining spaces.

02

Right in the heart of the city, you'll find Brisbane's original Botanic Gardens. From ornamental ponds and the Weeping Fig Ave to the Bamboo Grove (that holds 23 different species of bamboo), there's lots to see and explore.

QUT

Completed in 2016, QUT's Creative Industries Precinct is a joint venture between Hassel and Richard Kirk Architects.

Wander around the public open space and notice the intuitive circulation and central stairways that were specifically designed to encourage 'creative collisions'.

04

Marketed as Brisbane's new entertainment and lifestyle precinct, Queen's Wharf is a $3 Billion dollar development by Destination Brisbane Consortium. Set to open in the latter half of 2023, the design embraces Brisbane's subtropical climate and celebrate both the Indigenous and European heritage that spans along the river and ridgeline. Construction is already underway with the completing of the Neville Bonner Bridge and the current upgrade of the bicentennial Bikeway.

05

Wander across the Goodwill Bridge and head to Southbank. Located on the (you guessed it) Southern banks of the Brisbane River, the area is home to 17 hectares of lush parklands and world class eateries. Check out Brisbane's man-made beach, wander through the Arbour or check out the Nepalese Pagoda.

06

If you're wondering why this precinct sounds familiar, it's cause you've probably seen it as a precedent in a hundred different Arcadia projects. An exemplar of an inner city urban renewal project, come and appreciate the public art and sculptures, maybe even stop for a coffee and check out the dining scene.

As the name suggests, this buzzing village is located in the trendy neighbourhood of West End. A project from Sekisui House, the space reimagines urban living. Enjoy the open window gallery (which is currently showcasing the Brisbane Portrait Prize) or wander through the retail laneways and appreciate the leafy subtropical planting and European inspired cobblestones.
